Sun Exposure: Shade to Moderate Sun
Description: Areca palms are moderately salt-tolerant and are slow to moderate growers. These palms are wider at the top and can reach heights of 15 to 20 feet. Areca palms are often used in landscaping to create privacy screening or hedges, as a corner accent piece, or to cover a blank wall, fence, or side of a house.
Maintenance & Care: These palms are considered relatively self-cleaning, however yellow or brown fronds will occasionally need to be trimmed off. Areca palms must be fertilized at least three times a year (in spring, summer, and fall). These palms need to be watered regularly, but Areca palms do not like overly wet conditions.
